Mini Movers Dance Programme
Mini Movers is our twice weekly dance, music and movement programme. Facilitated by Alysha Cooke, an NZMDA (New Zealand Dance Academy) qualified teacher who is an accomplished dancer, these sessions are designed as an introduction to learning through dance.
• Aspects of numeracy through dancing and singing songs that involve counting and number recognition. • Learning about beat and rhythm, crossing the mid-line – learning left, right and opposites and bilateral skills (using both sides of the body together). • Positional language such as on, under, over, beside, lay down or stand up. • Mastering fine motor skills, touching fingers together, clicking fingers, delicate hand movement. • Tempo – fast and slow. • Concentration and co-operation.
All of these skills are taught in an encouraging and fun environment. Alysha’s enthusiasm for dance is infectious and inspires children to be expressive, imaginative and free to move to music.
